Present Progressive in Spanish. 

The present progressive is used to talk about things we are doing right now.

Let's use verbs ending in -ar:

1. Let's Take the verb: Trabajar.

2. We Remove the -ar ending.

3. And add the ending -ando to the stem: Trabajando.

Now, to form a sentence, we are going to use the verb estar as a helping verb.
For example:

• I am working = Yo estoy trabajando.

Conjugating Trabajar in the present progressive:

Subject Pronoun	Conjugation	English Translation
Yo	Yo estoy trabajando.	I am working.
Tú	Tú estás trabajando.	You are working.
Él Ella Usted	Él/está trabajando ella está trabajando usted está trabajando.	He is working. She is working You are working.
Nosotros	Nosotros estamos trabajando.	We are working.
Ellos Ustedes	Ellos están trabajando. Ustedes están trabajando.	They are working. You all are working.

You can follow the same pattern for other -ar verbs. For example:

• Hablar (to talk) → Hablando (talking)

• Bailar (to dance) → Bailando (dancing)

Oraciones en presente progresivo:

Afirmativas:

1. Yo estoy estudiando. # I am studying

2. María está cocinando la cena. # María is cooking dinner

3. Ellos están jugando en el parque. # They are playing in the park

Negativas:

1. Yo no estoy viendo la televisión. # I am not watching the tv

2. Pedro no está trabajando hoy. # Pedro is not working today

3. Nosotros no estamos comiendo en el restaurante. # We are not eating in the restaurant

Preguntas:

1. ¿Estás estudiando? # Are you studying?

2. ¿Ellos están hablando por teléfono? # They are talking on the phone

3. ¿Estamos esperando el autobús? # Are we waiting for the bus?
